Cumbia, Not Kumbaya

I've been researching cumbia for an article, and I keep coming upon all these great videos. First, check out this Samim song, which uses a cumbia sample -- you can't go wrong with dancing strangers and accordions, especially if there's a guy in a giant bunny suit.



And then there's this ridiculously catchy Los Pikadientes de Caborca song, which was a Top Ten hit in the US last year. I meant to play it at the last TKS party, but I couldn’t fit it into the set.

Going old school tecnocumbia, here's Up, Bustle & Out's "Cumbion Mountain"

And here's a trailor for the electro-cumbia club in Buenos Aires that's playing the Rickshaw on April 16. Get out your whistles.
